Residential Bushfire Shutters In St Ives

St Ives Pic 1

About this Project

Nicholas Ridley was having his new home built by Story Book Designer Homes. The property was located in a BAL FZ area which meant he had to meet bushfire safety requirements. When Nicholas called the Adshutters offices, like many of our clients, his main concern was that the shutters would compromise the appearance of his new home.

In addition, we had several installation challenges. By working closely with the architect we discovered what size roller shutter head box was needed for each window. This was done by passing on our architectural roller shutter spec sheet, allowing for the James Hardie fibre compressed cement border to be built around the window frames, fitting the height and width dimensions. Resulting in a beautiful, neat finish for the shutter to fixed in to.

It was vital that we pre-ran the wiring at the early stages and had regular consultation with the electrician.

Nicholas decided on white bushfire shutters (An AdShutters standard colour) all electric 240v Simu motors. These come with a manual over-ride in case a power failure as it’s required with all electric bushfire shutters (as written in the code AS 3959-2009).

The time constraints were another factor in the project. We collaborated closely with the builder. And ensured all scaffolding was removed on time so the roof could also be completed. Due to the pre-work preparation and collaboration with the relevant trades, we were able to complete the project on time.

After completing the project Nicholas sent us this testimonial: “Adam from Adshutters was knowledgeable about our requirements for a bushfire flame zone property. While other contractors caused us stress and anxiety, Adshutters stood out as a competent, courteous and a helpful supplier.”
